Total Freight Car Capacity Shows 35% Increase Over 1911
As a result of the increases 'which have been made in the number of freight cars in service and in the average capacity per car, the total carrying capacity of all the freight cars in the service of the Class I lines has grown from 78,100,000 tons in 1911 to 105,327,404 tons in 1928. This is an increase of more than 27,000,000 tons or of 35 per cent. The total carrying capacity of all the freight cars of the Class I roads is shown below
